Root and Rise Retreat – A Weekend to Remember, here is why

Last weekend, I had the joy of co-organising a retreat with the beautiful WAVE community – we called it Root and Rise – and honestly, it felt like medicine for the soul.


Set in the peaceful, green heart of Wales, this retreat was all about reconnecting: to your purpose, your body, nature, and most importantly, yourself. It was one of those weekends where everything slows down, and you start to really feel again – the fresh air, your breath, the earth beneath your feet.


I had the pleasure of leading morning yoga sessions each day. They were gentle, grounding flows focused on stretching, relaxation, and just feeling at home in your body. We moved, we breathed, we softened into the mornings together. It felt like the perfect way to start each day – open, present, and connected.


Over the course of three immersive days, we shared some truly powerful experiences:


Breathwork Mastery with Seamus This was a highlight for so many. Seamus guided us through deep breathwork that helped release emotional blocks, boost clarity, and tap into our energy. There was this collective stillness – like we were all really here, in our bodies, in the moment. No phones, no distractions, just presence. That alone felt like a gift.

Somatic Healing: We explored practices that allowed us to move through stored stress and emotion – gently but deeply. It was healing in the most authentic sense, bringing us back to who we really are underneath all the busy.

Nature Immersion: I can’t describe how good it felt to just walk in nature, slow down, and listen. Guided walks helped us reconnect with the natural world – and with ourselves. There’s something ancient and wise about trees, rivers, and hills, you know? They help put things in perspective.

Reflective Practices: We carved out intentional time for journaling, goal-setting, and inner work. So often, life moves so fast we forget to pause and check in. This was a much-needed reset – a moment to plant seeds for the future with clarity and calm.


And maybe the best part? The people. Sharing space with like-minded souls, laughing over meals, breathing together, having deep chats by the fire – these are the moments that stay with you.

Retreats like this remind me why I love what I do. They’re not just about wellness or yoga or healing – they’re about coming home to yourself, and doing it in community. Honestly, what’s more nourishing than that?

Like, sure, we could spend the weekend in London – pricey dinners, loud bars, the usual. Or… we could be out in the wild, reconnecting to our purpose, feeling alive, and growing in ways that truly matter. I know what I’d choose every time.
